Barbados, Jamaica Unite in Song

jus-d-future-soca-barbadosOn the heels of the Damian ‘Junior Gong’ Marley/Ian ‘Bunji Garlin’ Alvarez collaboration comes another collaboration marrying Soca Music and Dancehall music, this time coming out of Barbados and Jamaica.

Barbados-based singer/songwriter/producer Jus D. has embarked on a musical journey to introduce to the world what he has dubbed  “Future Soca,” a genre that combines up-tempo soca music with Afrobeats and dancehall, and he is taking a step in that direction with his latest track, “Perform.”

“Perform” is in the vein of the sweet soca energy for which Barbados is famous,” he explained to Loop. “The futuristic elements lie in the samples and melodies throughout the song.”

Also appearing on the track is Jamaican singjay (singer/deejay) I-Octane, who expressed delight at being featured on a track that he feels will soon be a hit.

“From Paul [Parris] sent me the tune while I was on tour in Europe, I knew it was a hit,”he said. “I voiced my part when I got back to Jamaica and mi nah lie, this song is going far.”
