Alyesha Wise on How to Love your Black Woman Body
Where does the black woman find her place? Where does she fit in, and by whom does she feel desired, when the white men see her as a way to indulge in a chocolate fetish, and the black men sometimes tell her she’s not woman enough?
She finds her place by learning to love herself as she is, and to see herself as complete and adequate, whether others see her that way or not.
Poet Alyesha Wise encourages black women to practice self-appreciation in the spoken word piece entitled “To This Black Woman Body.”
