Walcott, Ahye Win Top Awards in Trinidad and Tobago

ttoc_awardsOlympians Keshorn Walcott and Michelle Lee Ahye have been named the 2016 Sportsman and Sportswoman of the year in Trinidad and Tobago.

The two received the coveted titles at the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee’s (TTOC) Award Ceremony on Thursday.


Walcott gained the bronze medal in the men’s javelin final at the 2016 Rio Olympics, while Ahye made history as the first female from the twin island to compete in three Olympic finals.

Ahye placed 7th in the women’s 100m and 200m events in Rio, and Walcott threw the spear 83.45m, taking third place in the Men’s Javelin Final. This was the second time that the athlete brought home a medal after competing at the Olympics, having won a gold medal in London in 2012.
