Meet Jelani Jones, Creator of Lani Boo Bath
When she’s not busy carrying out the duties of a regular nine-year-old girl, though, she is hard at work building an empire.
Jones is the founder of Lani Boo Bath, a line of bath bombs which she makes herself, with a company name inspired by the nickname that her grandmother gave to her.
When she first began learning to make bath bombs in class, Jones enjoyed the process so much that she asked for her teacher’s business card. On the way home that day, she was asked by her mother what name she would give to her own company if she had one. She responded immediately, “Lani Boo Bath!”
Lani Boo Bath was launched last October, with her parents covering start-up costs and her first sales coming from friends and family members, but that was then. Jones’ company has since expanded, and now sells at local craft fairs and ships nationwide.
Crystal Jones, who introduced the young entrepreneur to bath bomb-making, comes to Jones’ aid when there are many orders to fill. She stated,
“By the time Christmas came around, we were a bath bomb factory. Everyone at the post office knew us. Dec. 17 was the last mailing. Then we took a break.”
