Kids of the Kosmos Aims to Inspire Black Children
The company has currently launched a crowdfunding campaign on Round1funding.com and are aiming to raise $15,000 by June 30th, 2017.
Siblings Amethyst and Princeton Legree, the brains behind the project, hail from Orange County, California, and come from a family of educators and youth mentors. Their aim is to encourage positive life-changes and new perspectives in children of African descent by exposing them to role models and positive images that look like they do.
Upon raising the $15,000, they will be able to mass produce their product line by the beginning of the school season. The line currently includes notebooks, journals, primary pencils, and subject folders. As the company grows, the line will be expanded to include coloring books, storybooks, and activity books that will depict civilizations of Afrika, black folklore, and contributions made by black people to modern living.
