Jesse RoyalReggae gem Jesse Royal, the man known as the ‘Modern Day Judas,’ recently offered a select few a first taste of his upcoming album “Lilly of the Valley,” and it was met with many praises from his peers in music, among them Craigy T, TOK, ZJ Rush and DJ Sparks.

Of his album, which was produced by  Lamar ‘Riff Raff’ Brown, Royal says he drew inspiration from the reggae music giants who came before him.

When Janelle ‘Penny’ Commissiong of Trinidad and Tobago became the first black woman in history to win the Miss Universe title, the entire Caribbean was overcome with excitement. The same occurred when Olympian Usain Bolt made an unforgettable impression on the track.

However, the people residing in the Caribbean know that it’s not all rainbows and butterflies among us, and, often, we create the drama ourselves.

Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport Olivia Grange, stated that the plan will be supported from the sales of the ‘Jamaica 55’ commemorative album. 

Trinidad & TobagoA recent list comprising 20 of world-wandering experts’ favorite destinations includes two Caribbean islands.

The collection, compiled for CNN by Danae Mercer, featured Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago, and was based on recommendations that came from a variety of sources, including travel photographers, tour operators, pilots, hospitality professionals, and travel writers. 

Autism in JamaicaAutistic children residing in Jamaica are in for a treat this weekend, with an event entitled “Surfing for Autism”, hosted by the Jamaica Autism Support Association (JASA) and the Jamaica Surfing Association (JSA) at the  Jamnesia Surf Club in Eight Miles, Bull Bay.

The local groups are partnering with California-based surf based charity group, THERAsurf for the event on June 24 and 25.

According to the Governor of the Bank of Jamaica (BOJ), Brian Wynter, the period of December 15, 2016 to April 30, 2017, was the sector’s best ever, grossing over U.S.  $1 billion.

That hotel is the Round Hill Hotel and Villas in Montego Bay, Jamaica, and TripAdvisor is singing its praises, describing it as “the epitome of Caribbean elegance.”

That artist is Shenseea, a 20-year-old former Mona High student with a ever-increasing fan base and a growing string of hits.
